So Far, Yet So Close
2 MAY – 8 MAY | OPENING RECEPTION MONDAY, 2 MAY, 5 – 8 PM
So far, yet so close celebrates six artists that have practices vastly ranging in style and medium from one another. This multidisciplinary exhibition not only aims to showcase these different practices but also showcase how the six exhibiting artists, each living in very distinguished parts of the world, somehow when combined, have more in common than one can imagine.
Over the last couple of years, the use of technology as a tool for communication has accelerated due to the amount of time we have had to spend physically on our own. Technology has acted as a ‘security blanket’ to relieve feelings of isolation and loneliness, placing us in a seemingly intermediate state. On the one hand we have never been so physically isolated from each other and on the other hand, we have never been closer together virtually. This has induced us to a space where we are literally So far, yet so close from one another.
This exhibition is an opportunity to show and embrace the wealth of talent brought by artists from different communities. Allowing hybridisation and innovation in artistic creation between the West and East, promotes the cultural diversity and intercultural dialogue – expressing themselves freely about their thoughts and feelings of their own intermediate state; So far, yet so close.
